A Typical Manic Depression Symptom is the Need for Speed

Like times when you have a wild assortment of ideas. Then there are other days, weeks, and months were you don't want to get out of bed.

One manic depression symptom is evidenced by the inability to sleep. Another is that you begin to notice that you can become irritable almost without provocation, and you don't think anyone is listening to your great, if not somewhat far fetched, ideas.

During a manic phase, which can last weeks and even years, you are highly functioning in your job, especially if you are in the position to delegate.

Depression Help - What Does Severe Depression as Opposed to Chronic Depression Look Like?

What Does Severe Depression as Opposed to Chronic Depression Look Like?

Severe depression is a profound depression resulting from a loss. Chronic depression is the end result of severe depression if help is not sought or the sufferer does not move through the sadness.

The death of a loved one can bring on severe depression. You miss them terribly, cry long and often, and can find no joy in your life. You can't seem to do the regular household chores or go about your daily routine. This profound sadness is part of the grief process.

Everyone grieves differently, and there is no set deadline for when your grief should end. Real grief never ends, I have been told, but in time we are typically able to function and even experience happiness again, as life does go on.

You can also find help for your depression at your local church or community center. Depression help for low income people can often be found through these resources, and oftentimes the counseling is free. Most churches provide counseling for depression as a service to members of their congregation, but won't turn away someone simply because they do not belong to the church.

The support groups typically meet once a week. There you can meet people who are overcoming their depression and draw strength from each other.

Community centers can also help with resources for the causes of some depression, such as food banks, energy assistance, and health care.
